Zippo Armor Lighter Case 2016 ‘Antique Silver Plate’ Deep Carve Debut US Flag !!

Description: One (1) Zippo Armor lighter case with no Zippo brand insert, rather a Z-Plus Extreme (twin torch flame; refillable butane) insert, from a recent estate cleanout.This first year of production 2016 (made it’s debut in Zippo’s 85th anniversary 2017 Complete Line Collection catalog) ‘Antique Silver Plate’ US Flag Armor model is very collectible and rare to find on the market today.NOTE: When I acquired this, it was filled with butane and in great working order. I’ve since emptied the butane from the insert. That needed to be done so that the item can ship USPS on an airplane. Will need filling with (3x refined or better) butane. It will not work unless you do this (with butane, not ‘liquid lighter fluid’ aka petrol which will not work in this) -- it is EMPTY. I’ve set the flame height to (-) for further safety purposes. Recommend turning that to (+) with a tiny ‘eyeglasses repair kit’ flat head screwdriver.Zippo Armor cases are 1.5 times as thick as standard Zippo cases, so they’re tougher and allow for luxury imprint methods such as the deep carve on this Armor series ‘first year of production’ US Flag model lighter made in 2016 (which debuted in Zippo’s 2017 catalog). This is a solid, great looking, patriotic Zippo!I acquired other highly collectible Zippos from this same estate cleanout if you’d like to check out my eBay listings! All came with Z-Plus Extreme inserts -- no Zippo brand inserts of any type (such as: butane pipe, arc, double torch, single torch, etc.) were found in the estate contents. No boxes, papers or anything else was found either.The Zippo Armor case is the 28974 US Flag model with Antique Silver Plate finish. It’s deep carved and has immense texture. Zippo still makes this model today, as of this writing in 2023, and it retails for 90 USD. However, the case offered here is from the first edition / first year of production which made it’s debut as a “NEW” model in Zippo’s 85th anniversary 2017 Complete Line Collection catalog.Markings on the bottom of this lighter’s case: “B”, “Zippo”, “16”, “Bradford, PA”, “Made In U.S.A.”, and lastly the Armor emblem or logo lower right.The replacement / upgraded insert is by The Lotus Group in Tamarac, Florida. It features Electro Quartz ignition (doesn’t use flints), is flame height adjustable, you can see how much butane you’ve put in it through the clear case, and the butane doesn’t evaporate. When using it, it has that “click” sound when you open the lighter.The condition of the lighter’s case is very good. It’s “Used” but well cared for and certainly not abused. I see no glaring flaws although it would benefit from cleaning / polishing but I leave that to you, the buyer, along with filling up with butane. I do not know what would be ideal to use for cleaning / polishing this Zippo case, so I’d advise researching it beforehand if attempting to do anything.While the Armor series US Flag model Zippo made it’s debut as “NEW” in Zippo’s 2017 catalog, per the “16” on the bottom of this case, it was made in 2016. “B” represents the month it was made, so this specific case was likely one of the first made of this model.
