It has a special meaning to New Mexician's as the ZIA is the state symbol. A red ZIA sits proudly as a solitary symbol in the center of a bright yellow flag. This symbol is revered and displayed proudly on everything from stickers, clothing, coffee mugs and much more as we sell here on EBay. It is used in logos for businesses and even tattoos are popular today. The Zia has many meanings that are attached to the four rays of the sun on each side. ? The top rays are for the four directions, North, East, South, and West. ? The right four rays are for the four seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. ? The bottom four rays are for the phases of day, Sunrise, Noon, Sunset, and Night. ? The left four rays are for the phases of life, Childhood or Infancy, Youth, Middle Years, and Old Age.
