The flashguard is securely fastened and has both impact marks and oxidation. The escutcheon screws securely fasten the panels, however one is partially broken. The left side panel has a crack going down the entire length of it, but it is still securely fastened. It has a very light wiggle. The wood has darkened with time. The entire spine has a slight bend to it. When holding the bayonet, it leans toward the right. The blade's spine and fuller have light oxidation and scrapes. The blade edge has no nicks or dings and appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a semi-sharp straight point. Some of the original finish remains, but a lot of it has worn off. The left pommel is marked with the serial number "F.X.1830". The scabbard is in Poor - Poor Plus condition, considering its age and history. The frog stud is attached to the body but swivels. It is MISSING its innards so the bayonet bounces around inside. The metal body has impact marks, oxidation and scrapes. The remaining original finish has turned a darker gray patina color. There is some dried grease on the scabbard.
