Marked Manufacturer: Spanish - Unknown Model: Spanish Standard Modell (M1884/98 based) Blade Length:9.875" Serial #:9956 TEXT GOES HERETEXT GOES HERE --> Offered here is a WWII M1943 and M1944 rifle Spanish Standard Modell (M1884/98) bayonet. The scabbard is NOT included. These were made and primarily used on the M1944 rifle but could also be used on the M1943 rifle too. It was based on the German M1884/98 bayonet except the blade was thinner and lighter. They can be found with either plastic or wood grips. Overall, this bayonet is in Fair - Good condition, considering its age and history. The press catch is NON-functional with no spring tension. All the pieces appear to be there but we think it just needs a new spring. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They have light oxidation and scrapes. Some of the finish has started to turn a gray patina color. The flashguard is securely fastened and has both impact marks and oxidation. The escutcheon screws securely fasten the panels. They have light tool marks with strong slots, but they have grit inside the slots and oxidation. The wood grip panels have compressions and draglines. The wood has darkened with time. The blade has a light wiggle. The blade's spine and fuller have light scrapes. The blade edge has no nicks or dings and appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. Most of the original factory finish remains. There is some dried grease, mostly around the ricasso area. The left guard is marked "P.R.8." and the right guard is marked with the serial number "9956". The scabbard is NOT included. This bayonet will be a great addition to your Spanish M1943 / M1944 rifle, or a bayonet collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
