WWII German asw 1940 K98 Bayonet and scabbard

Description: Up for sale is a nice, all matching K98 bayonet made by E. & F. Horster & Co. Solingen (code: asw) in 1940. The bayonet and scabbard are both matching, and the blast guard also matches the number stamped on the inside of the grips (normal).The bayonet shows typical wear on the blade from inserting and removing from the scabbard. Looking closer, it does appear that the blade was very lightly sharpened at some point along the main edge. Bluing looks very nice with no major rust or pitting on the blade. The hilt of the bayonet is also in good shape, just showing some wear where it was affixed to a bayonet lug and on the hilt it shows some finish loss from probably rubbing against a leather frog at some point. The bolt spring still appears to work fine if you wanted to affix to a rifle. The grips show light scratches and a very small cosmetic chip on the edge of the front of the left grip directly up from the asw stamp on the blade. The grips are solid and have no major cracks or other flaws, they are the correct early brown color and not the later war/replacement red color.The scabbard itself is in similar condition showing normal wear with quite a bit of bluing still remaining. There are some small areas of corrosion towards the middle and lower half of the scabbard, if you look closer you will see some small patches of pin-pricking (pitting) as well. Scabbard has three small dents, two on the front and the worse being on the rear (in reality they are very small but wanted to point it out).**I would rather be overly critical pointing out the flaws and have the buyer pleasantly surprised when they have it in hand than under critical and the buyer be unhappy with their purchase - my description above reflects this.**Overall it is a nice bayonet that probably saw combat at some point during the war and would make a good addition to any collection.
