Description: Offered is this painted wood and brass abacus with two attached metal plates, one of which is marked "Cathay Pacific" and the other is marked with Chinese characters and a symbol. Cathay Pacific is the flagship airline of Hong Kong. I don't know what this was produced for-sold as a souvenir? Given to employees? This is apparently a rare find; at the time of original listing I could not find any others for sale on eBay. The abacus is approx. 9 3/8" x 4 1/2". It has 13 bamboo rods with seven wooden discs each, five on one side of the divider and two on the other, for a total of 91. It is in very good condition. I see no damage to the wood or brass, although the brass does have some tarnish. The rods are slightly loose. There is some minor wear to the painted finish. Please take a moment to look at all of the antique postcards and other items in my eBay store!
