Description: This is the 1901 Liber Brunensis, the yearbook of Brown University. First edition, not ex-library. Good condition. It features photos of graduates as well as photos of member of sports teams and other organizations. There are two notable individuals: David Connolly Hall (pictured on page 37) and Howard Coffin (pictured on page 32) . There is a separate section from page 79-91 for Browns' Women's College. This section features individual photos of women graduating in 1901. Greek Letter Societies of Pembroke (Brown's Women's College) are on pages 151-156. Wikipedia: David Connolly Hall (pictured on page 37) (May 1, 1875 – May 27, 1972) was an American track athlete, track and basketball coach, and university professor. Hall attended Brown University, where he became a champion runner and was the captain of the track and field team from 1899 to 1901. He served as the head basketball coach at University of Oklahoma from 1907 to 1908 and at University of Washington from 1908 to 1910. He graduated from the University of Chicago and Rush Medical College and was also a medical doctor and became a physical instructor at Washington. He won the bronze medal in the 800 metres track and field race at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris. Wikipedia: Howard Aldridge Coffin (pictured on page 32) (June 11, 1877 – February 28, 1956) was a politician from the state of Michigan. In 1946, Coffin was elected to the United States House of Representatives from Michigan's 13th Congressional District, defeating former Representative Clarence J. McLeod in the Republican primary and going on to defeat incumbent Democrat George D. O'Brien in the general election. Hardcover, first edition, the yearbook is in good condition. It is signed by earlier owner (probably first owner) "Nettie P. Harvey June 11, 1901 Compliments of "The New Suit"". Front and back hinges beginning to crack. There is no foxing. There are no loose or missing pages. It measures10.0" x 8.0" and has a brown cover with gilt lettering. The book has 272 pages, plus 30 pages of advertisements. Black and white illustrations. Front and rear boards are sturdy. Front board is brown with gold and gray design. .
