Description: ***********Although the Valjoux 23 manual wind movement keeps accurate over an approximate 41 hour power reserve period with all chronograph functions work perfectly as they should given its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This seldom seen vintage 1960's Vulcain divers chronograph, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a "SWISS MADE" (partially obscured by the crystal ring...most clearly seen in picture 8) signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows age-related wear. Majority of the imperfections seen are on the crystal. The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a warm buttermilk hue. The faded black bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely with the lumed inverted triangle complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "STAINLESS STEEL INCABLOC WATERPROOF ANTIMAGNETIC 12015" with "2041" followed by "TESTED AT" and "20 ATM" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal should be replaced. The venerable 17 jewels "SWISS" stamped Valjoux 23 manual wind movement runs strong and keeps accurate time with all chronograph functions working perfectly as they should. The top pusher starts and stops the sweep seconds hand while the bottom pusher resets it along with the minute register (right subdial). Both pushers have a pleasant catch and release feel with no signs of gumminess. After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 44 full revolutions (impressive for a manual wind) the movement had a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. While the crown winds buttery smooth it'll occasionally squeak. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 42 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 12 mm. A complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided. Thanks for looking! ***********Although the Valjoux 23 manual wind movement keeps accurate over an approximate 41 hour power reserve period with all chronograph functions work perfectly as they should given its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********
