The painter got a little sloppy in a few spots and you can easily see this on the inside edge. I assure you that this is the original paint. There is one tiny spot that I have circled where it was missed but you have to be looking for it. It is not a chip, it is smooth to the finger touch. I think it is quite a lovely piece and I had to talk myself into giving it up. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. There is no doubt that it was loved and used for many years.
