Description: Vintage Speedo JAR OPENER You are bidding on a Speedo Jar Opener. It was manufactured in the mid 1930’s in the U.S.A. It is a variant of the Dazey Jar Opener manufactured by the U.S.A Churn and Jar Co. that was patented in 1934. I was unable to determine the connection other than appearance. The opener, when closed, is 8 ¼ inches tall. On the bottom is the following information: Speedo Jar Opener-Central States Mfg. Co.- St. Louis, Mo.-Made in the U.S.A.-Patent Pend. On the side of the opener that has a crank there is an Arrow. Further it relates Turn Jar to remove screw Caps. The crank has a black wooden knob. The crank has a cam that locks the opener on to the jar lid. One can adjust the openers jaws as to size of lid by pushing the upper jaw. There is a spring that acts as a dampener for the upper jaw. Opener is totally functional. No damage noted.
