Description: After checking malting with a vintage Savage firearms expert this has been identified as a Savage Model 1920 barrel that has been cut down and had a replacement front site installed. Chambered in 300 savage it now measures 17.5 inches from the muzzle to the beginning of the threads . I’m told that this is the same thread pattern for the model 99 thus the cross listing in the title and rifling is actually quite nice and bright ! Apparently around 1924 a number of these Model 1920 barrels were used to produce Model 99’s at the factory. Anyway…a great piece to use on a custom restoration of a 1920 or 99
