Description: Offered for sale is a VINTAGE PROMOTIONAL RADIO FOR STATION WXKW 1600AM that broadcast in the Albany NY area. The radio was made by Universal Publicizers Company of Chicago IL. It was used to promote local radio stations. It could only receive the station indicated on the plastic case. The radio was placed in the businesses that advertised on the radio station. It dates from the 1950's/1960's. There were actually two WXKW stations. The first broadcast from 1948 to 1953. The second from 1961-1966. The radio case looks like a vintage microphone. The condition of this particular radio is good. The case shows some scuffing but there are no chips or cracks. On the bottom one of the original rubber feet was replaced with a glued on foot. The grill on the back of the radio is loose. The radio is complete and even has the original decal. The radio turns on and the tubes light up but there is only static as there is no station in my area broadcasting on 1600AM. I don't know if the radio works or not.
