Description: This cookbook did not sit idly on a shelf - it was used and loved. There is a lot of cooking left in it and it is loaded with great New England specialties. It was published in 1974 by the Portland, Maine Symphony Orchestra Women's Committee and it is a hefty 334 pages. In addition to recipes, there are some interesting black and white pictures and etchings related to the symphony and music between the sections of the book. The cookbook is about 9 inches in height, 6 inches wide and approximately 1 inch thick - a nice substantial but manageable size. The cookbook is in reasonably good vintage condition. The front and back covers are intact with some age-related wear around the bottom and edges. The spine is in good condition with no cracks or broken prongs. All pages are secure - none are loose. There are recipes that are highlighted in orange (see photo) and also a few pages with some spots. There is a page with a slight crimp at the top that had a paper clip attached (see photo). Other than that, the pages are pretty clean. See photos for more details. The table of contents is pictured, but here are a just a few of Portland, Maine's best recipes: - Hering Mariniert. - Fish Chowder. - Symphony Salad. - Corn Spoonbread. - Styfado. - Chicken A La Genovese. - Flaming Peaches with Custard. - Crepes Fraises. - Boiled Raisin Cake. - The Perfect Chocolate Cake. - Feneekia (cookie). - Cranberry Ice... .....And many, many more!Every effort will be made to minimize the environmental impact of packing and shipping each item.*REDUCE* *REUSE* *RECYCLE*
