Vintage Oil Painting Rockport School Fishing Boats by Pier

Description: this is a lovely vintage oil painting depicting the famous Rockport, MA fishing shack known as "Motif #1" surrounded by a variety of fishing boats moored by the dock upon which "Motif #1" is located - it is said that this old fishing shack is one of the most photographed & painted image in New England - this painting shows "Motif #1" on a cloudy where the sky was painted using various shades of gray & off-white colors - in the foreground of the painting is a fishing dory in the water with a white hull in back of which is a two masted fishing vessel also with a white hull - the two white hulled boats contrast well against the darkish dull red colors of the fishing shacks on the dock - they also contrast well against the bray cloudy sky - beyond the two-masted fishing vessel is another fishing boat also with two masts which has its sails still fully raised they are painted with beige colors which creates another nice contrast to the fishing shacks - the harbor water itself was painted by the talented artist ("R. Spangler") using a palette of dull gray, blue, green, & white colors as well as dull brown to depict reflections from the boats as well as the dull gray sky - the painting measures 10" x 14" sight size, & is in very good vintage condition - it is enhanced by its original gilded wooden frame which measures 12" x 16", & which is also in very good condition with a few dings -
