This mask depicts a human face known as the gambler who was a character that figured in the winter dance series of Kwakiutl potlatch celebrations. Measurements: 9 3/4 X 6 1/2 inches and in very good condition. Written of the reverse "Sampson Robertson Kingcome Inlet B.C. Nov 10/83 Gambler Mask". Sampson (1952-2014) is from the Kwakiutl tribe and originated from Kingcome Inlet, B.C., a small island off the coast of Vancouver Island.
