It's actually overall clean with some vintage wear including some scrapes to the paint, and one of the hide laces on the side is broken. The wood on the side looks like birch to me, but I am not a tree expert. Please make your decision based upon the photos for the wood. I do say, I think this is in good vintage condition. Clean.
