Description: This vintage framed print is a 1960s map of Mexico, featuring the Nova Hispania region from the 1600s from the map maker Joan Blaeu(w). The map is printed using copper plate techniques and is presented in wall map format. It is a great addition to any antique collection. The colors are hand-painted on rag paper, not facsimile. Great attention went into the reproduction of this map. The map is perfect for those interested in North American maps, maps of Mexico, and antique maps in general. The map itself is in perfect condition, but the frame has vintage wear. About the map maker: Joan Blaeu was born around 1599 as the son of Willem Blaeu and Maritgen, daughter of Cornelis from Uitgeest. His father, who studied with the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe, settled in Amsterdam around 1600 as a globemaker, printer, publisher of maps, and publisher of literary works. With frame measurements are: H 21 in, L 25 in. I do have 4 additional map prints that match this print and frame. If you are interested check out my page to see the other pieces and if you like any or all of them and want to buy as a set, then possibly we can work out a discount/deal.
