Description: The graduate business school at The University of Chicago was established in 1898 and is the second oldest in the United States. From 1959 until 2008, the school’s recognized name was “The Graduate School of Business at The University of Chicago”. Many referred to it simply as “GSB” (some of you may remember that!). It is under that name that four members of its faculty won The Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences (Stigler, Miller, Scholes, and Coarse). It was during that time that an economic philosophy…the Chicago School of Economics…became known throughout the world. It is by that name that, even today, I choose to refer to the school. Later, and, I guess, as an example of the reality of capitalism at work, mega-wealthy donors made contributions large enough that their names would become the means of identifying the school…like Booth and, to a lesser extent, Gleacher. Though I wish it weren’t the case, I do thank them for their generosity. This cup is brand new…never, ever used…to drink from or on display. In fact, it will come to you in the original wrapping and in the original box! I believe I received it in the mid ‘80s…so, about forty years ago. As should be expected, the logo is absolutely bright and clear. It is “the real deal” and, maybe, possibly, one of two left. I have the other🙂! A bit “pricey”? Maybe…but it’s hard to put a price on memories. As the credit card commercial said…could it be ”priceless”?
