Description: 1950’s Perched Eagle bird porcelain figurine statue, Horodnytsa porcelain factory, Ukraine This 1950’s eagle perched on a tree trunk is hand made and hand painted underglaze, produced in the muted colour palette and in keeping with the tradition of the time. This figurine is produced at the now defunct Horodnytsa porcelain factory, one of the oldest in Ukraine. Set up in 1799, the factory was nationalised in 1917. During the WWII the factory was destroyed and only restarted the production in the 1950’s. During the soviet times, Horodnytsa porcelain factory was one of the leading porcelain factories specialising mostly in porcelain figurines. Factory closed down for good in 2008. The figurine is branded in blue underglaze Horodnytsa mark, used since 1957 to 1960. The figurine is in an excellent original condition with no damage.
