Description: 🙎♂️Jean-Baptiste Chaquin of Metz started out as a tobacco merchant. This enterprise was prosperous; he had several employees. Among them was a certain Gustave Butz, who was the first worker and became his son-in-law, marrying Chauquin's daughter Marie in 1858. In 1858, Jean-Baptiste Chauquin created the Chauquin pipe in collaboration with Gustave Butz. In 1858, back in Metz, Gustave Butz built a factory for the production of the Choquin pipe, which was named [Butz-Chochin]. In 1951, Berrod-Regad acquired the brand and continued production until 2002. After leaving Metz, the workshop was moved to Saint-Claude, then also called the “world capital of briar patch”, under the Berrod-Regad group. The Berrod-Regad Group continued to completely rebuild its network of representative offices until it finally entered the export market in 1960 and has since won several prizes, as well as the Gold Cup of French Good Taste.
