Vintage Bes-Ben 582 Green Black Beaded Veiled Ladies Hat in Box

Description: Benjamin Green-Field (1898-1988) was the milliner behind Bes-Ben's surreal and often whimsical hat designs, gaining a reputation as 'Chicago's Mad Hatter' as he crafted fun designs for Hollywood's elite and Chigaco socialites. This vintage hat is a classy design, with a stiff mesh ring-shaped body edged in black velvet, scalloped at the bottom and covered in black beading. A black veil finishes the look, scattered with black beads. Attaches with two hair combs for security. Red on black tag, "Bes-Ben Made in Chicago" on the underside with second white handwritten 582 tag. Overall excellent condition: minor wear to the netting veil, all beading feels secure with no missing beads noted on the body. Beads in veil have no gaps noted. Hair combs are secured to the hat with black elastic, currently in good shape for the age. Small pink hat box with pink ribbon and darker pink flocked detailing included.
