Description: Vintage ART DECO Ladies J.W. BENSON London 9K Gold Wristwatch, WORKS, 22.2 Gr Click images to enlarge Description VINTAGE J.W. BENSON WRISTWATCH Lovely old ladies J.W. BENSON LONDON 9K gold wristwatch - glass front face measures about 1" in size - adjustable band is about 8-1/2" when fully opened for sliding over the hand, 8" when the extension is used, and 7-1/2" when the back extension is snapped closed - complete weight including stamped ROLLED GOLD band with MONTAL Stainless Steel closure is 22.2 grams. Featuring a hand wind action, case houses a cream toned metal face with original hands and black numbers - face is marked SWISS - the number "12" appears to have faded - the pin works as it should. There are numerous marks on the inside case door interior including 9 over .375 indicating a 9K gold import mark, JW for Benson, what appears to be two capital opposed F letters (I believe for Glasgow) in a chamfered box, and a stylized W in chamfered box (I think for 1919) - it is numbered 6117 as well - works are stamped SWISS MADE 15 JEWELS and J.W. BENSON LONDON. Watch works fine and keeps time - I have tested it three times to make sure, and it runs for about 14 hours straight without loosing time - I did not completely wind it up for fear of overwinding. The works are as clean as can be - the case back is incised with numerous numbers - assuming jeweler cleaning or servicing records. The front face has minor wear, and the issue with the number "12" as mentioned - dome top glass cover has all over very fine crazing and usage wear - does not impact ability to view the face. The gold is vibrant with no denting - watch wears with ease - design is so ART DECO.
