Description: This is one of the top of Wurlitzer's line of early 1900's parlor guitars! Wurlitzer brothers brought over the top German luthiers and instrument craftsmen, from their homeland of Saxony, in the mid 1800s, and became one of the largest importers of fine instruments, working originally out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Some of their parlor guitars were actually made by the Martin Guitar Co. . . . . but sold under their name! (This is NOT one of those!) This guitar is crafted with 'bird's eye' maple, for the back and sides, has a cedar top, and the distinctive closed tuning machines, that were unique to this model. These guitars were built with very thin tops, with light bracing, for a remarkable, resonate sound! There are some line cracks that have been previously 'cleated' (see photos), and I also added some 'super glue' style repairs on two top bottom cracks. The current strings are 'super light' steel strings, but other vintage style strings could be used. The case is a brand new 'Gator' 3/4 sized hard case, that fits 'like a glove' for this particular guitar! The name: "Eugene Howard Maker", on the label, is actually not the builder . . . . but one of the Wurlitzer brothers, who eventually took over control of the family business! This guitar will be carefully packaged, and fully insured, for the journey, to its new home!
