About the Book:This is an original 1953 Principles of the Gospel book that was sent off to soldiers fighting in the Korean War along with a copy of the same size book of Mormon (BofM not included). It has a printed message from the first presidency in the front of the book (see photos) which is (print) signed by David O'McKay, J Rueben Clark, Jr, and Stephen L. Richards. The message says that due to incidents of the armed forces [the Church] is not permit to keep in constant personal touch with them directly or by personal representation, so this book (and the Book of Mormon) is being sent to them as the next best course to put into their hands such portions of modern revelation and of explanations of the principles of the Gospel as shall bring to you, where ever you may be, renewed hope and faith, as likewise comfort, consolation, and peace of spirit. The book contains a Church Chronology, Priesthood Ordinances, and selected Hymns. It is very exciting to think that this book could have been in the pocket of a soldier fighting in the Korean War!
