Description: Vintage 1950s Van Camp's Spanish Rice Label, Indianapolis, Indiana 9.75" x 4.2 " ~ Little to no edge wear. Throughout the Civil War, Van Camp's was a staple for troops and returning veterans alike. Van Camp achieved success in 1861 with the first successful commercial cold storage warehouse and, by 1898, had production of six million cans. By 1909, Indiana was the leading producer of canned beans, propelled by the Van Camp family. Imagine hanging this over 100-year-old antique advertising on your wall as home decor in any room! Cigar labels show you what antique advertising is all about with the wonderful graphics that Lithography provided that modern printing just can't reproduce. This was a lost art after the 1930s unfortunately. My pictures seriously don't do it justice. Most of these artists were very good but desperate for work during that era and got paid very little and received no recognition for their work. Unfortunately, the majority of these artists will remain unknown but we can keep their art alive forever.
