Description: Rare and Lovely Vintage 1942 DeLee Art Hand Painted Pottery Angel Figurine This hard to find figurine is from the Delee Art Pottery Studios. The DeLee Studio in California was owned and operated by female artist Jimmie Lee Stewart between 1937 and 1958. Most of the DeLee figures have their eyes closed. This is one of the rare ones with its eyes open. Her right hand has an indentation designed to hold "something" unfortunately I am unsure as to exactly what, for it seems there is no consensus on the subject, with a small bouquet of dried flowers & a birthday candle being the contenders. This little angel (she has wings) has crazing consistent with her age and one minute chip at the bottom back. She also has a small unique flaw to the bottom hem of her dress, its an indention in the pottery (it is glazed over so it's from the original firing). In beautiful, rare, & unique collectors piece.
