US 377th Medical Company, also known as DUSTOFF (an acronym for "Dedicated Unhesitating Service To Our Fighting Forces"), was a medical evacuation unit that served during the Vietnam War. The unit was made up of helicopter crews and medical personnel who were responsible for evacuating wounded soldiers from the battlefield and transporting them to medical facilities for treatment.The 377th Medical Company was based at Pleiku in the Central Highlands of Vietnam and was equipped with UH-1 Iroquois helicopters, commonly known as "Hueys." The Hueys were modified to serve as medical evacuation aircraft, with equipment such as stretchers, medical supplies, and specialized medical personnel on board.The DUSTOFF crews flew into combat zones to retrieve wounded soldiers, often under heavy enemy fire, and provided critical medical care and transport to ensure that wounded soldiers received prompt and effective treatment.
