Description: LIVING ESTATE SALE (Details at the end of description) The Mamod Tractor is a multi time winner of the "Boys Toy of the Year" award.This is the perfect toy for boys of all age, including tomboys. For your consideration is a Mamod TE1a Live Steam Tractor made in England in the early 1960s. This is most certainly one of the first Mamod Tractors ever produced.It is evidenced by the mono-directional piston/cylinder, the early model whistle, the steam line valve and the one-prong water level plug.Only the very early version had screws instead of rivets to attach the front onto the boiler house.Also only the very first versions had a short front end attachment rod and no steering rod. This 60 years old Live Steam Tractor is in good/average condition for its age. It has been air tested (video) and should operate on steam without too much trouble.There are a few superficial paint scratches and some rust, mostly on the canopy attachment on the boiler housing (photos). It is complete, with the exception of the original box that is missing.The tractor itself is all original but the scuttle and spirit burner tray are newer (still Mamod original though). You will need some denatured alcohol (91% recommended) and distilled water is strongly recommended. This item was been around for 60+ years without a whole lot of changes.
