Originating in Tripoli and routed through Rome, Italy June 8, 1933 on Balbo North Atlantic Flight to New York July 20, 1933 (Mr. V. Lobianco, Park Central Hotel 56th Street at 7th Avenue New York USA) and forwarded with hand written explanation on reverse to the Italian Pavilion Century of Progress, Chicago, Illinois with July 22 & July 24, 1933 Chicago, Illinois registry handstamps. Vittorio Lobianco was the Director of The Union Filatelica. The Airpost Journal (June, 1933) notes the mail carrying plans of the General Balbo Air Squadron which will fly from Italy to Chicago and also makes mention of Director Lobianco who shortly after July 1st can be met at the Italian Headquarters for Philately in the Italian Pavilion at the Century of Progress Exhibition. (2017 Scott Catlaog values C28 on cover at $2,600.00 and #30 (perf 14 x 14) on cover at $1,100.00) An exceptionally scarce cover which helps to tell the story of how Italian philately was represented at the Century of Progress Exhibition.
