This is a handmade cloth doll, commonly called a “Topsy Turvy” doll because of the way it flips between two different types of dolls, each having their own style of dress. The facial features (eyes, lips, freckles, etc.) are hand painted. The hair is yarn. Item: Topsy Turvy Doll - Black and White. We would be happy to provide additional pictures if requested. We will point out all blemishes we notice. As a result, it may appear that the item has a lot of faults. However, a blemish to one person may not be an issue with someone else, and vice-versa. This is a vintage preowned item that is in good condition. The results of our review is listed below. The doll’s “hair” is strategically placed yarn, which appears to be glued to the head in some, or all places. Some strands are looped around each other (pony tails for example) while others are tied together. If you are a stickler for things being exactly where they should be, then some of the hair will need to be adjusted on both dolls. Otherwise, it can just be moved into place as was done for the pictures. Because this is a vintage item, some dirt and/stains have appeared over the years that can likely be cleaned more (we’ve done a lite cleaning). There are some small spots on the top forehead area and chin of the “white” doll, and on the “hands.” It wasn’t anything that concerned us enough to get it thoroughly cleaned, so we will leave that decision to the new owner to make.
