Pull weight is the amount of force, in ounces or pounds, required to fire the trigger. Or in other words, how hard you have to squeeze the trigger to shoot your rifle. It has been designed and manufactured to provide you with a lifetime of dependable service. Each trigger is hand tested and calibrated on a rifle action before leaving our factory. Please read these instructions fully before you begin installing the trigger; you'll be glad you did. Installation Instructions 1. Before beginning work on any firearm, remove the ammunition source and double check to ensure the chamber is empty. 2. Installing the Timney trigger on a Browning X-Bolt is quick and simple. You'll need the following tools; a hammer, 1/16"punch, and a 3/32" hex driver. 3. Start by removing the bolt from the action and then the action from the stock. Using the 1/16" punch and hammer, drive out the trigger housing pins from left to right (towards the safety). 4. Once the factory trigger is removed from the action, pull the safety connecting bar out of the button first and then rotate the safety bar until safety bar ears align with holes in safety plate and remove the safety bar and safety button. 5. To install the safety bar onto the Timney Trigger line the ears of the safety bar with the slots on the safety plate and gently press the safety bar through the slot. Rotate the safety bar to align with safety button and insert arm into safety button hole. 6. With the safety bar and safety button installed on the Timney Trigger it is now ready to be installed. Slide the Timney trigger housing into the action and align the pin holes. Using the 1/16" punch tap the pins through the action and trigger housing. Be sure to tap the pins into place pushing from right to left or towards the safety. 7. To install the stock you will need line up the pin holes and use the Allen wrench to hand tighten the screws in place. 8. Pull Weight is adjustable from 1.5 to 4lbs. To adjust the weight of pull turn the screw counter clockwise to lower the pull weight, turn the screw clockwise to increase the pull weight. Do not lower the pull weight to less than 1.5 pounds as this can produce slam firing or ‘following'. Installation & Adjustment instructions for the replacement upgrade to Browning X-Bolt As a General rule one full rotation equals one full pound. The trigger will arrive set at 3lbs. from the factory unless you specify a special pull weight by ordering your trigger directly from Timney. The Timney Browning X-Bolt Trigger is fully adjustable for Sear Engagement (Creep), over travel (Follow through) and pull weight. Adjustment of the pull weight is completed by turning the pull weight screw with a 5/64 hex Wrench. Adjustment of the sear engagement and overtravel are completed using a .050 hex Wrench. Sear Engagement: Sear engagement controls the amount of movement the trigger has before it breaks. Sear engagement is custom set at the Timney Factory and shouldn't need adjustment. However, if you want to adjust your triggers sear engagement (Creep) the procedure is as follows: With the rifle unloaded and cocked. Engage the safety. turn the sear engagement screw clockwise until it stops. Slowly turn it counter clockwise 1/8 of a turn or one flat of the .050 hex wrench. The safety should move freely but the trigger should not move when the safety is engaged. Overtravel: Overtravel (Follow Through) is the distance the trigger moves after it fires. Timney Trigger Jedi's adjust the overtravel to factory specifications but overtravel is a matter of preference and can be increased or decreased to match your preference. The over travel screw is on the front of the housing just above the pull weight screw. With the trigger in the fired position and using a .050 hex wrench, turn the screw clockwise until it stops. Once the screw stops, turn the screw counter clockwise 1/8 of a turn or one flat of the hex wrench. Squeeze the trigger as you turn the screw to the desired amount of follow through. BE CAREFUL if the overtravel is set too tight the trigger will not fire. Pull Weight: Pull weight is controlled by the bottom screw on the front of the housing. Using a 5/64 hex wrench turn the screw clockwise to increase the pull weight or counter clockwise to decrease the pull weight. From the factory the pull weight is set at 3lbs.
