Description: Thomas Furnival & Sons, England, White Ironstone Ceramic Saucer, Circa 1878. This antique saucer from the famed pottery manufacturer of Cobridge, Stoke-On-Trent, England dates from as early as 1878 as per my research on the pottery mark on the bottom of the saucer, which features an anchor and rapier crossed, with royal arms and scrolls containing "Thomas Furnival and Sons" and "England". The saucer is 6 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep. The pattern is all white ironstone. This saucer has been used and shows signs of use wear including surface scratching, some stains and dark marks that have penetrated the glossy glaze. See the photos for the condition of this piece. The top surface where the cup would be placed shows the most use wear from rubbing. This is a fine, heavy-weight saucer without cracks or any obvious chipping. The saucer weighs 7.4 ounces. An enduring piece of history; owned by one family for nearly a century and a half. Stored in a non-smoking environment. Please look closely at the photos and contact me with any questions.
