Description: Roy Underhill is an American woodworker and television host of one of the longest running PBS "how-to" shows, The Woodwright's Shop. He was the first master housewright at the Colonial Williamsburg reconstruction. The Woodwright's Shop is a Practical Guide to Traditional Woodcraft published in 1981 and has 216 pages and more than 330 photographs. He brings to woodworking the intimate relationship with wood that craftsmen enjoyed in the days before power tools beginning with a guide to trees and tools. The Wood Wrights Companion, his second book, explores Traditional Woodcraft and was published in 1983 with 203 pages and more than 260 photographs. This book continues to demonstrate "how to start with a tree and an axe and make one thing after another until you have a house and everything in it." It also features a glimpse of traditional woodworking techniques still used by the Colonial Williamsburg housewrights. Both must have books for the serious woodworker or for someone who wants to explore traditional woodworking techniques! Great learning tools! Price is for both books. Both books have a crease on the front covers and normal vintage wear.
