Description: 1975-82 was a great time of renewal for a great 1960's British band called the Troggs, who by the late 70's were treated as godfathers of punk rock, anthologized on SIre Records (the Ramones/Talking Heads label), recorded for Private Stock (Blondie's first label), and even recorded for New Rose (who released stuff by Johnny Thunders and Iggy Pop). New Rose I now think is a really underrated label--all the pressings I've seen from them are unusually well-mastered and well-pressed on great quiet pristine vinyl. This album has more presence in the bass than any Troggs record ever, and (because the Troggs are unbelievably consistent) has yet again some great originals on it, including the bizarre title track which is about Al Capone threatening to murder a whole houseful of neighbors because they' keep staying up dancing the Black Bottom. A narrative we had not heard in a rock song before. This is NM/NM-, gorgeous vinyl like I said, and just the slightest hint of wear to the glossy European sleeve. If you have not heard "Feels Like a Woman," you haven't even heard rock&roll yet. Or, ok, you have heard rock&roll, sorry. Just saying it's a great song.
