Description: The Patchwork Girl of Oz L. Frank Baum Chicago: Reilly & Lee [1913] 1945 ca A nice reprint issued sometime in the 1940’s without color. Pictorial label on textured black cloth. Inner hinges unbroken. Clean interior. What is unusual about this particular book is that besides being printed in Halloween colors of black and orange, the spine imprint of the head of Tik-Tok of Oz has been absorbed into the black cloth. It’s nearly impossible to realize what the image is, (eyes and a nose seem possible). This is uncommon. My guess, as this combination of black cloth and image was probably caught early. Then again the book was at one time covered with a dust jacket. The “Patchwork Girl of Oz” I’ve seen like this. For certain collectors of strangely bound Oz books. A very nice copy.
