Our little girl rescue kitty Amber (part of the Cinnamon family of cats) was born of a feral mom, in a feral cat colony. She had been having such difficulty breathing after a heavy rain storm so I rescued her and her sister. She was always less active and as months went by and it became evident that there was a health issue needing to explore. She was very lethargic for an 8 month old kitten. I could hear the labored breathing and also her inability to actively play like the other cats. She often refrained from play participation, in a self protective mode. When she attempted eating (and really wanted to and was first in line), she would literally gasp for air, swallowing some in the process, then becoming sick afterwards. After several veterinarian visits we were referred to a hospital that specializes only in cats. Exploratory surgery revealed the largest polyp the vet has ever seen (I saw it and could not believe such a large fatty thing was lodged in her nasal cavity!) Surgery was recommended and the polyp was fortunately removed! Amber recovered slowly from surgery. One of the temporary side affects is that the third eye-lid is very visible. The vet said that it should retract within a month or so yet it is only about 20% visible right now but fluctuates some days. Photo 1 shows Amber as a kitten born to a feral mother, cute as a button! You can see in photo 2 how tiny she is. Photos 5, 6, 7, 8 are at the hospital. Here she is in the last photo after surgery and in recovery. We are in need for donations to cover her hospital stay, surgery, and blood work. Amber also needed to be spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated which we had been putting off due to her breathing problem. (She could not be placed under anesthesia.) Since polyp removal surgery she has been breathing a sigh of relief!! For the first time, she is no longer laboring and started playing along with the other cats!!
