This is an excellent reproduction of a mid-19th century rectangular Match Safe - A tin box for the small match boxes. It has a sliding lid on the top to keep the matches safe from the elements. In NEW, unused condition. Might show some simple storage wear, (which is easily cleaned up with some brasso metal polish) but comes still wrapped in original plastic wrapping and unused.
