Description: Binnacle Compass by Wilcox Crittenden, Middletown, Connecticut dated June 16, 1930. This wet card compass features block numbers and lettering on 3 of 4 cardinal points, with a fleur-de-lis type accent on the Northern cardinal point. This brass compass is encased in a scarce slant-front mahogany box, with an ovular viewing window on the hinged top (ship-lapped constructed box). The boxes back side shows a port for lighting to be attached, which would allow instrument use at night (lighting/chording not included). Complete original, with dated sticker of sale.
