Be sure to look at the photos and ask any questions you may have. John Calvin Reid Ph.D. D.D. 1901 - 1996 John Calvin Reid, an author and noted Presbyterian leader. Reid was the author of 14 books, including four that used animal characters to teach children principles of Christian faith. Including the very popular "Bird Life in Wington: Practical Parables for Young People". He led the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando and Winter Park Presbyterian Church in the early 1980s. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Reid was a resident of Winter Park for the past 10 years. He served as minister of churches in Kentucky, Georgia and, from 1946 to his retirement in 1967, in Pittsburgh. His status was such that after his formal retirement he served as interim pastor to 10 different churches from coast to coast, including the two in Central Florida. He was very influential in the Presbyterian Church, said Donald E. Brown, an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando.
