Description: This vintage Shimano Dura Ace early Ax triple crankset is in good overall condition. The chainrings are 52 tooth and 40 tooth both with a 130 mm bolt circle diameter. The inner ring is 28 tooth. The crank set has 172.5 mm crank arms. This crankset has an advantage with ease of installation and removal owing to the self extraction crank bolts that required only a 6 mm hex key.. The manufacturer code is stamped EE indicating a matched set. This will be ideal for a late 1070s through mid 1980s bike Japanese bike restoration. The Ax series of cranks used the Dyna Drive pedals with a 1" oversize pedal thread. This enabled the pedal plartform to sit 1 cm lower for better cornering or to allow the rider to use a smaller bike frame. (Is this BS?) Note the cosmetic manufacturing flaw by Shimano appearing on the drive side crank arm. One of the five threaded holes for the smallest chain ring that had to be CNC drilled into the asymmetrical drive side arm got off and went partially through the outside of the arm. It was minimized by the polishing process and does not have any negative impact on the crank set performance. I have discounted the price as a result.
