This step has been slipped successfully with growers although many still recommend it. I sell customized drill bits with stop collars seperately or combo packs as well which fit all standard sized plugs. They are approx 5/16"X1". The holes are then commonly sealed over with wax although some people have success without this step. Made to order to ensure freshness, these sometimes will take approx 7-10 days to ship although I try to have some in stock ready to ship immediately, large orders of several thousand sometimes wipe out the immediately available inventory.
