Description: This is a great award medal for the School Art League of New York City. The one side has a female in flowing robes, guiding a nude youth, who is holding an architectural model of an ancient Greek temple. The back shows that the award was presented by the Art in Trades Club – thus the youth holding the architectural model. Great classic style ! This fine piece was sculpted by Gaetano Cecere, and has his name “G. Cecere” on the back. It is 2 5/8” across, and is marked, “GORHAM CO.” along the edge, as shown. This fine piece can be found in the medallic art collections of various museums. I do not know what metal this is. For condition, please closely study the pics, using the “zoom” feature.
