Description: Scarce signed original woodblock print by noted VT printmaker Sabra Field of her husband 'Spencer Field' (Spen) This is a very scarce woodblock by the Vermont artist, Sabra Field, printed in a small edition of only 5. This being number 4 of 5. The woodcut is a portrait of her now deceased husband, Spencer Field, and is titled in pencil - Spen. The printed image is 8" x 8", and is printed on a sheet of hand-made paper. It is signed and titled by Sabra in pencil in the margin. This print was never offered publicly for sale but was only produced for her family and friends. This copy was given by Sabra to a friend of hers in Woodstock, VT. Spencer collaborated as a partner with Sabra in some of her prints and was a wildlife artist in his own right. He died from cancer while in Hawaii in 2010. Sabra Field was born in Oklahoma in 1935 and then attended Middlebury College, in Vermont, where she graduated in 1957 with that institution's first degree in art. She is currently retired and no longer producing art; however, she is nationally recognized for her stylized woodblock portrayals of the Vermont countryside. Her images have appeared as United States postal stamps and she is the author of several books. She has been called the 'Grant Wood of Vermont!'
