There seem to be surprisingly few exhibitions about Russian icons, and prior to the one held at Tamagawa University's collection in 2009, this exhibition seemed to be the most notable. Apparently there were some before that. At the beginning of the book, there is a letter from the director of the All-Russian Art and Scientific Restoration Center, which was in charge of restoring the old icons exhibited at this exhibition. According to this, there has never been an exhibition of Russian icons on this scale in Japan.
