This vintage detailed Borzoi figurine is made by the famous manufacture Rosenthal and was modeled by sculpture Max Valentin in 1913. Dating to post WWII during the time Germany was split into 4 occupied zones. The markings include impressed number 200/1, Rosenthal, Germany Kunstabteilung-SELB , Handgemalt. Germany US-Zone and the hand written letter G This gorgeous, reclining Borzoi dog figurine, was designed by Max Valentin of Rosenthal. This Borzoi is particularly unique in that it was produced after Germany lost the war & was split into 4 zones from July 1945 to September 1949. It was produced in the US Zone of Germany. From our research, we have yet to find another Rosenthal Borzoi marked like this one. Additionally it is numbered just above the Rosenthal insignia. Very different in style, from those designed by F. Heidenreich, in the 1930's, this Borzoi figurine captures the "quieter" side of the dog's personality. Looking at this dog's profile, you can easily read his gentle, peaceful and loving nature.
