Description: Titus | AE19 Reference: RPC II 1605 , SNG France 1076–7 Date: 76 CE Obverse: T CAES IMP PONT; laureate head right Reverse: ANT COL; priest holding vexillum ploughing with two oxen, right; above, crescent Mint: Antioch, Pisidia Size: 18.9 mm Weight: 4.64 grams Antioch of Pisidia was an ancient city founded in the area now known as the Turkish Lake District. The city was founded on the Anthios River (possibly by the Seleucid king Antiochus I) and was settled by colonists from Magnesia ad Maeandrum. Under Augustus the city was renamed Colonia Caesarea. However, in the reign of Titus the city began going by the name of Antioch. This coin illustrates that name change with the Antioch monogram visible on the reverse just above the oxen's head.
