Residents "For Elsie" CD - edition of 500, given away at 1989-90 New Year's show

Pressed in an edition of 500 copies, these were handed out to attendees of the Eyeball Four's 1989-90 New Year's Eve performance of Cube E: The History of American Music in 3 E-Z Pieces, held at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco. That's right -- you had to be in attendance at this particular show to obtain the disc. All this information is emblazoned right on the CD itself, as is this description of the music: "For Elsie is based on a folk tune that has been ripped off by lots of people – most notably Beethoven. He first introduced For Elise on New Year's Eve 1889-1990, exactly 100 years ago tonight. Actually, I just made that up, but it would be wonderful if it were true, wouldn't it?" You've heard interpretations of the basic melody hundreds of times on TV shows, and in movies and commercials… and here the Residents infuse Ludwig Von's original with a hefty dose of their legendary bizarritude, taking the piece through 28 minutes of sinister variations. This music would later be issued on a very limited, very costly picture disc (ten minutes shorter than the CD)… and a brief excerpt appeared as the B-side to the "Hit the Road Jack" single, but the only complete version of For Elsie that exists on compact disc is right here. As you might guess, this is one HARD item to track down. Don't miss this chance to score your very own copy! This disc shows some light scuffing, but plays flawlessly. Nevertheless, since this is in less than optimal condition, we are offering this for half what we'd charge for a near-mint copy.
