Description: During the Edwardian period, furniture makers featured inlaid work in their designs. This piece is made from mahogany wood with a satinwood veneer and Sheraton style inlay. There is an exquisite dentil cornice above a gorgeous pair of cupboard doors that have been masterfully inlaid with oval panels featuring intricate marquetry urns with acanthus leaves and floral designs. These motifs were an ode to the Ancient Greeks. Furniture pieces that characterized this style, were known for their elegance, luxury, and overall feeling of masculinity. Small subtle inlaid designs also dot the trims of the piece, creating a sense of luxury. The three full-width drawers are centered by exquisite oval marquetry panels featuring anthemion and floral ornaments. Anthemion means ‘flower’ or ‘blossom’ in Greek and was a prominent symbol of life and renewal. This piece is raised on sturdy bracket feet, a design typical of the Edwardian style. This superbly crafted linen press was converted into a liquor cabinet with lights, by replacing the wooden shelves with glass shelves and adding mirrored glass to the back and bottom. You can return it to a linen press by replacing the glass shelves with wooden shelves and using it as a bookcase or storage unit. Overall, not only is this antique linen press multi-use, but it is also a nice decorative cabinet for any room.Overall: H= 81 in. W= 55 in. D= 18 in.
