Description: Replica US Airborne Helmet Marker Disc WW2 Luminous Helmet Disc Phosphorescent marker disc. US WW2 airborne helmet disc. These luminous discs where issued to the American paratroopers in WW2 so they could be identified easily by friendly troops. They were usually fixed to the back of a helmet by fastening them onto the helmet net, tied onto webbing or stitched onto the inside of the M42 jump jacket collar at the back so when they were needed you would pull your collar up so the luminous disc can be seen. Mainly used when walking at night so you could keep an eye on the man in front. The luminous marker discs were also used by engineers to mark paths and roads. These replicas are made of metal with two holes on the edges so you can tie them onto kit, The centre is coated in luminous paint (not radio active like the originals) so they will soak up the suns rays during the day and then when it goes dark they will glow, if there's not enough sun simply shine a torch on it for a short time and then they will glow. These helmet markers come in a felt protective sleeve, just like some of the originals. Price is for 1 x Paratrooper luminous helmet disc. If you have any questions then please ask.
