Acquired from the original owner by the current owner. Rene Francisco Rodríguez stands out as one of Cuba's most prominent contemporary artists. Since the 1990s, he has become a key figure in the island's art scene, both through his collaboration with Eduardo Ponjuán and his distinguished solo career. His artistic expression has undergone continuous evolution, combining elements such as experimentation, renewal, research, critical thinking, and a strong social commitment. These affinities are also reflected in his innovative pedagogical approach, which is seamlessly integrated with his overall artistic production. Rene Francisco has played a pivotal role as a "facilitator or mediator," as he recently expressed it, for several generations of emerging artists. Some of these artists are now prominent figures in the Cuban art scene. His work as an educator, spanning two decades, was internationally recognized for the first time during the 7th Havana Biennial in 2000 when he was awarded the UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of the Arts for his project "From a Pedagogical Pragmatics," which was part of the DUPP Gallery in its third edition. Subsequently, in 2001, the San Francisco Art Institute in California, United States, awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts, acknowledging both his outstanding career as an artist and his skills as an educator. The extensive body of his artistic work is evidenced by the numerous solo exhibitions he has held throughout his career up to the present day.RENE FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ. Pintura. Arte conceptual.
